Sponsored by: University of Andes – Scholarship “Impacto País”
Advisor: PhD. Mauricio Sánchez-Silva, University of Andes.
Co-advisor: PhD. Edgar Andres Virgüez, Duke University.
This research aims to integrate data analytics, machine learning, and georeferencing of information to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the challenges, issues, and needs within South America’s energy system. The objective is to facilitate informed decision-making to enhance the optimization of this sector. An extensive evaluation of the system is anticipated, focusing on the region’s potential opportunities amid the energy transition and climate change. Additionally, the study will identify key challenges and obstacles, underscoring South America as a region of emerging interest, potential, and complexity. All these aspects are supported by data analytics and the study of artificial intelligence methods, which provide insight and understanding of the various factors at play.
